Who do YOU think their mum should be? A muggle? Or a witch that's already married, but somehow had his kids? XD. That'd be kinda hard..

I suppose her being just some witch who got "drawn into the Dark Side" so to speak would make the most sense. I sort of imagined that the reason why Voldemort won't tell them about her is because he's afraid they'll feel attachment to her and be angry that he didn't stop her from dying... It's all about keeping them loyal to him so to speak. Am I thinking too much into it?

No you're not, because this is actually going to be a HUGE part of the plot. But, I don't think she shoudl really be dead. I think Voldemort told them she was dead so that.. well, your reason. Except, she should have betrayed him and gone to the good side. So again, loyalty.

Oooo... I like it. He told them she was dead because he thought that if they knew the truth they would side with her. So she's sort of a Regulus type then? She was intrigued by him and by the dark side, but once she got into it, she realized what it was really like. Then she tried to take them with her when she left, but he wouldn't let her. Now there's all sorts of guilt for her about having to leave them.
If we're going on that, can we have her accidentally meet at least one of them?

I know I'm not a Riddle, but my suggestion is that maybe he raped one of the people on the good side, but she ran away before he could finish her off or something, and then tried again the next year. I dunno, but that's my idea.

I see what you're saying, but how did he end up with the kids if that's the case? I don't really think it should have been entirely involuntary. Maybe she wasn't expecting to have his children, and she wanted to leave but never had the courage to until after they were born.

Hmmmm....Mum, mum, mum....
I don't think she should have been forced to bear the Dark Lord's child. In fact I think the two should have been in love, or at least they thought they were in love when in fact it was only lust. After her children were born I believe, the woman would have realized that and tried to run away with the children. The Dark Lord stopped her and took custody of his children claiming that the woman was unfit and unstable to care for the young heirs. Perhaps he sentenced her to be locked up, but an outside spy helped the woman escape and she now resides with the good side?
Ok, I tried to put in a little of everyone's idea. Then in the future like Caden said, she could met one of the children, most likely Caden, since he is the first born child and son....I stink at this *sigh*
